In August, the MCCA Board of Directors came together for its annual strategic planning session. During this meeting, board members identified key priorities and established actionable goals to strengthen the organization and better serve members over the coming year.

These goals focus on four key areas: events, advocacy, education, and community building. As an MCCA member, you play an important role in helping us achieve these objectives. Below is what MCCA will focus on in the year ahead and how you can get involved.

Events & Education
  • Expanding virtual member connections
    • We recently hosted Connect, Commiserate, & Celebrate with MCCA, an informal virtual event for members to connect, commiserate, and problem-solve together.
    • MCCA plans to host a variety of virtual educational mini conferences that provide timely information and professional development related to the childcare industry
    • On Friday, October 23, MCCA is partnering with the Minnesota Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) for a virtual training on licensing. More information and registration can be found on the MCCA website.
  • Signature annual events
    • Planning is already underway for MCCA's signature events, including Day on the Hill and the Annual Administrators Conference. Be sure to read MCCA emails and monthly newsletters for registration announcements.
Advocating for Members
  • Understanding member priorities
    • We have launched a survey to find out which issues matter most to child care professionals around the state. Scroll above for the link to the survey!
  • Developing the 2027 legislative agenda
    • MCCA members are welcome and encouraged to join the Government Relations Committee and contribute their ideas to the creation of MCCA's legislative agenda. Committee meetings can be found on the Events tab of the MCCA website.
  • Building partnerships to advance priorities
    • MCCA is focused on strengthening relationships with childcare partners across Minnesota.
    • MCCA plans to meet with gubernatorial candidates to share MCCA priorities.
    • We will continue to provide state and federal policy updates to members in the monthly MCCA newsletter.
Growing Our Community
  • Sharing MCCA's mission
    • To help introduce more providers to MCCA, we are creating an "About Us" flyer that highlights the organization's mission, legislative accomplishments, and membership benefits.
  • Reaching more providers across Minnesota
    • MCCA plans to increase targeted outreach to centers in Greater Minnesota, helping to ensure providers in every region have opportunities to participate in and benefit from MCCA membership.
Feeling inspired? Want to get more involved in MCCA?
  • Come to an event! Events are a great way to learn, connect, and bring something back to your program. MCCA offers a variety of in-person and virtual events to fit everyone's busy schedules. Members receive free or reduced registration fees for MCCA events. Check out the Upcoming Events tab on the MCCA website for event information and registration.
  • Share your priorities with MCCA. Complete our member survey and register for future listening sessions. Member questions and experiences shape MCCA's mission.
  • Invite a colleague. Know a child care provider that is not a member yet? Invite them to an event, share the MCCA website, or have them reach out to admin@minnsotachildcareassociation.org for more information!
