9:00 - 10:30 a.m. 2016 Licensing: DHS
Representors from DHA including Licensing, Background Studies, Child Care Assistance as well as Child Development Services will be attending the session. This group will give updated information from all areas. They will be able to answer questions about changes and updates as well as speak to the group about childcare development fund changes.
10:50 - 11:50 a.m.

The Nuts, Bolts, Traps and Pitfalls of Break and Leave Laws
Breaks and leaves are mandated by intricate, overlapping webs of state and federal laws. Recent legislation, including certain provisions of the federal Affordable Care Act and, more recently, the Minnesota Women’s Economic Security Act have made major changes to this once-quiet corner of the law. The purpose of this session is to help managers and directors get oriented in the current legal landscape, and application to the early childhood education setting.

Frank Forsberg will provide an overview of the MinneMinds legislative coalition. This presentation will include a summary of successes from the past three legislative sessions and an update on the 2016 legislative session.

We will explore the successful collaboration of Self Esteem, Teamwork, and Persistence. Working from the inside out, we will identify these building blocks and discuss strategies that can be used to enrich your working environment.
