Paid Leave is coming to Minnesota in January 2026, and we want to help you prepare.  As child care providers, there is excitement over what this means for the families we serve: opportunity to be present with children as they join families, and a reduction in (one!) financial and logistical barrier to those wishing to grow their families.  This is big, this is new, and there are questions about how to make this work in our ratio-dependent programs and what our administrative responsibilities are under the law. Rubber, meet road.

Join us as the Minnesota Department of Employment & Economic Development's (DEED) Paid Leave division partners with MCCA to provide an overview of the program and help prepare us for these new responsibilities. We want your questions!

Come be in community with other providers for an illuminating discussion focused on the needs of our industry and what support and resources are available to help meet them.  We will observe the following format:
  • 2:00-2:30pm: Paid Leave Preparation Presentation
  • 2:30-3:00pm: Q & A with Paid Leave Team
  • 3:00-3:30pm: Members-Only Debrief Session

Speaker Greg Norfleet
Greg Norfleet is the director of the Minnesota Paid Leave division of the Department of Employment and Economic Development, or DEED. He comes to the role with nearly a decade of experience in state government with a focus on delivering on high priority initiatives for state leaders. Critically, he led the implementation for the Massachusetts Paid Family and Medical Leave program which launched successfully in 2021. Since moving to Minnesota in late 2023, Greg has led the creation of a new division tasked with launching our own Paid Leave program this January.
